Sister of Manuel Alejandro Tique calls for his release

“Every day I wish for it, and I dream of seeing my brother walk through the door and hugging him”, these are the words of Diana, who is waiting for Manuel Alejandro at home.

Manuel Alejandro Tique is an industrial engineer with a focus on environmental issues. He has dedicated his professional life to supporting vulnerable communities in Colombia, as part of the Danish Refugee Council.

On September 14, 2024, he was detained in Venezuela while carrying out his humanitarian work.

One year later, we continue to call for his release — because Manuel Alejandro is a humanitarian worker.

No humanitarian worker should face detention for carrying out their mission. We call for his release
